There’s the traditional way of previewing the Nike Sportswear LeBron James Holiday 2011 apparel and footwear collection. And while sharply photographed images might be enough to get fans excited about their prospective purchases, Nike is presenting the collection’s key items in illustrated form. It’s either a callback to a time when catalogs were filled with pen and ink illustrations of a merchant’s dry goods, or a subtle suggestion that LeBron’s status as a world-class athlete has reached near superheroic levels befitting comic book lore. In any event, the artistic renderings crisply depict several pieces that any King James fan would be happy to wear. Starting feet first, the Air Max Conquer is a versatile winter boot, featuring a high cut silhouette with waterproof overlays. The AF1 Premium Low is also winterized, with a new outsole built with duck boot-like traction. On the apparel front, the Destroyer jacket, made from 100% recycled wool, is a standout, featuring personal touches like the embroidered “Vivat Rex” (Long Live the King) appearing at the interior of the jacket. A Bomber Jacket, N98 Jacket, AW77 Hoodie and 1823 Rugby round out the assortment. Click through for more looks.
