You
will be disarmed by their friendliness, they are simple and unassuming, as you
settle down you notice their keen fashion sense. Cute gowns and matching pumps;
Two Italian women changing the lives of young women who are residents of the
infamous Water Side of Port Harcourt; Aside being the Mother Theresa of fashion
these two believe in the capacity of the Fashion industry to help reduce
poverty in a massive way. Meet our very inspiring guests the delectable fashion
icons and entrepreneurs Catrina Bortolussi and Francesca Rosset.
They
were recently in the Federal capital city of Abuja on their Kinabuti
Fashionista Expo tour, which started in Port Harcourt and then last week in
Abuja. I was recently invited to have a feel of their fashion show case. Indeed
I was thrilled by not only the brilliance of their designs but also by their
passion to change the lives of 'Waterside' Port Harcourt. A very inspiring
evening it turned out to be.
They
took me through how it all started in 2006 and in 2009, their participation in
the African International Film Festival (AFRIFF) which held in Port Harcourt
inspired them towards their first project. “KINABUTI: IN OUR GHETTO”. The
successes so far has pushed them and their dreams further.
Come Monday 27, June 2011, the models and their clothes will be on the run way as part of The Project 1835 Nigeria Youth Rejuvanation event which is expected to be attended by President Goodluck Jonathan.
These
young women are very goal driven and inspirational and really I had a nice time
with them... here are some photos from the Fashionista showcase held at
Salamander Cafe recently.
