With the success of her sizzling hit single “Rock Steady” thriving,
music nominations/awards, and an impatient thirst from fans both nationally and
internationally, young talent Di’ja (born Hadiza Blell) is well on her way to
unstoppable success in the music industry. In just a mere two years, the
multi-faceted Di’ja has been able to seal a solid signature sound that merges
Pop, R&B and a hint of Reggae, as well as a steadily growing buzz from
coast to coast—literally.
Biography
Born and raised in Kaduna, Nigeria, Di’ja’s sultry blend of Nigerian, Sierra Leonean and Lebanese roots played a big role in her upbringing, which has helped shape and mold the young starlet in the making. Understanding early on that embodying both beauty and brains holds a heavier weight, Di’ja attained a double degree in Psychology and Biology before pursuing what she knew was her destiny—Entertainment.
Having harvested her musical career in Canada, Di’ja got her first breakthrough opportunity after winning Vancouver’s The Beat 94.5FM music talent contest in 2008, which led to her production deal with the world renowned, Rockstar Music Corp. Shortly after, she collaborated with hit-makers, Adam H., The BananaToons, and SA Trackworks (Jessica Simpson, The Corrs, Kelly Rowland, George Clinton, Elise Estrada, LiveOnArrival) to birth what stamped her certified—her debut single “Rock Steady”. Since then Di’ja has been nominated for the Best Urban/R&B Single at the 2009 Canadian Radio Music Awards and in April of 2010, got the chance of a lifetime when she performed at music mogul, Akon’s concert in Sierra Leone.
Currently, Di’ja is rocking the U.S. with show after show, and working on her debut album slated to be released in 2011. She recently, wrapped up the shoot for the long awaited “Rock Steady” video which was shot and directed by “Six Shoota” of Cool Kids Forever Films in Washington, DC.
While many would feel content with Di’ja’s current track record, this marks just the beginning for the ambitious singer. “I cannot tell you what the future holds, but I can tell you that with the help of the Almighty, nothing is impossible,” says Di’ja. “All I can say is 2011 has more than enough surprises.”
